Dior Saddle vintage Classic leather mini bag

Superb mini-Saddle by Dior, a very rare version of the original model with domino patterns and deck of cards in smooth black and white calfskin enhanced with edging and handle in black patent leather and CD-engraved silver metal fittings. Created in 1999 by John Galliano and launched at the Dior spring-summer 2000 show, the Saddle bag pioneered a new wave of “It-bags” made famous by celebrities like Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton, Beyoncé , Elle Macpherson, Sarah Jessica Parker in “Sex and the City”, and it is still one of the legendary bags from the house of Dior. Recognizable thanks to its undulating curves in the shape of a saddle in reference to the equestrian world, zipped closure and a short removable strap allowing it to be worn tightly under the arm or in the hand. For Maria Grazia Chiuri, current artistic director of Dior, “”the Saddle Bag is a bag that is worn exactly like a shirt or a jacket and it is so comfortable when worn over the shoulder that you almost forget its presence.”” It is in excellent condition, with tiny scratches from use at the seams which do not alter the shine of the leather and the preciousness of the object.
