1960’s TIFFANY & CO Ladies Backwind Miniature Bracelet Watch – 14K Gold with Box Very Rare – All Original with Box – Beautiful & Exceedingly Refined Today’s offering showcases this very rare and extremely refined ladies Tiffany & Co miniature backwinding watch. With a diameter of a mere 8.75mm, this tiny masterpiece showcases incredible watchmaking skills. In a day an age when watches have become bigger and bigger, it’s often forgotten that the truest test of elite watchmaking skill is going small. Like today, in the 1960’s no name better captured the idea of embracing the best life had to offer than that of Tiffany & Co. One of their special offerings were Tiffany & Co. branded watches, many of which were made for the company by one of the fine manufacturers. Although the maker’s name was often hidden, the retailer contracted with a number of the world’s fine watch and jewelry making firms to produce these treasured timepieces. Unlike many of the Tiffany’s ladies vintage watches made for the U.S. market, this is a true all European creation with tiny movement made by Blancpain and case and bracelet specially made in France. Of the many luxurious ladies watches manufactured during vintage times, the backwind models were some of the company’s top-of-the-line non-bejewelled offerings for women, often costing the equivalent of many thousands of dollars or even tens of thousands in today’s valuation. Besides representing the state-of-the-art in miniaturization technology, they also possessed a great level of artistic refinement, concealing their winding crowns beneath the case back to avoid disrupting the watch’s perfect purity and full symmetry. Designed to embody the femininity of the times, this Tiffany creation possesses refined elegance in its sleek and very petite form and strength in its brick link bracelet. We were are pleased to offer it in pleasing condition, accompanied by its original Tiffany box. Its case presents as better than near mint with clear stamping and strong line. Its dial presents in excellent condition. And its ultra-fine, miniaturized Blancpain for Tiffany movement is in excellent condition and keeping time. Four of our Master Watchmakers worked for the last four years restoring the movement of this special watch to breathe new life into it which even included custom fabricating parts to the original factory functional quality and factory quality decorated finish (restoration value $1495).
