OMEGA SEAMASTER GENEVE Calibre 565 Vintage Men’s Watch from 1968 with Clover Green Dial, Double Signed Version – Stainless Steel Rare “”Seamaster Geneve”” – Superb Restored Condition Today’s offering features this very cool vintage Seamaster Geneve 166.002 men’s watch. This reference is particularly interesting because it was normally marked as a Seamaster or occasionally as a Geneve. However, a few were double signed as a Seamaster Geneve. While Geneve signed examples are much less commonly seen than Seamaster signed examples, double signed versions like this are rarely found. It has a very classic Seamaster case design with a screw-down case back embossed with the Seamonster logo and a distinctive clover green dial. It measures approximately 34.5mm in diameter without the crown, between the sizes of a Rolex Date and a Rolex Datejust. The watch is powered by Omega’s top-of-the-line 565 calibre used in the Seamasters of the period, and one of the last top 500 series movements used before Omega began trying to cut costs. This is the highest-end offering in the 500 series. It has 24 jewels and is one of the best mass-produced automatic movements of the period. It has just completed a proper restoration by experts. It has all its original parts and is presented in stunning restored condition – a 9.8 out of 10. Its case is like new. Its lugs retain strong lines. The caseback shows lume from previous polishing – the rest of the case has barely been polished. Its dial has been meticulously custom-made in shamrock green – the impression could pass for an Omega manufacture to the naked eye. As part of the restoration, the beautiful 565 caliber movement with swan neck fine adjustment has been freshly serviced by a master watchmaker. It runs very well and accurately, keeping time to the same standard as a new Omega in our test recording position. As a final touch, it has been fitted with a new leather strap with aftermarket Omega style buckle, making it ready to enjoy straight away. Over five and a half decades old that looks brand new on the wrist! Omega is perhaps best known to watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster range of dive watches. Launched in 1948, it has been embraced by water sports enthusiasts and often combines striking looks with a high-performance movement.
