1904. Louis Cartier granted the wish of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell the time while flying. The birth of one of the first ever wristwatches sealed the bonds of friendship between these two pioneers. The rounded angles of the dial, seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws made for an iconic watch that would inspire countless reinterpretations. Rose gold 750/1000 case, beaded crown set with a sapphire cabochon, linen-effect dial, gold-coloured Roman numerals, blued steel sword-shaped hands, sapphire crystal. Case back engraved with the handwritten signature of Alberto Santos-Dumont. Brown alligator leather strap and rose gold 750/1000 ardillon buckle. Case dimensions: 46. 6 mm x 33. 9 mm, thickness: 7. 5 mm. Water-resistant up to 3 bar (approx. 30 metres).
