OMEGA De Ville Midsize Men’s Watch 1972 “”Emerald”” by Andrew Grima – Stainless Steel Superb Restored Condition – Modern Masterpiece Today’s offering features this fabulous avant-garde DeVille “”Emerald”” watch, inspired by the models Andrew Grima created for Omega and introduced in 1971. “”Arguably the greatest jeweler of his generation, Grima counted Queen Elizabeth II among his clients. The Emerald line is distinguished by the generous proportions of its emerald-cut crystals in gemstone, quartz or mineral glass. Initially, these pieces were reserved for the top of the Constellation range, but as the Emerald line expanded, they were increasingly featured in the De Ville line. The Emerald line was only produced at OMEGA until 1973, but it left a lasting impression. Although it was a line lost at OMEGA, these watches remain today a “Premiere” collection, which shows just how good the design was.” – via Omega Museum. Its emerald-cut crystal protects its royal purple dial. The case is in perfect condition. The case back would have been gold-plated originally, although they also made these watches in an all-steel version that looked like this watch. The original dial has been meticulously remade to order – the impression could pass for an Omega manufacture to the naked eye. Originally a men’s watch, it could also be a ladies’ watch that really makes a statement. As part of the true restoration carried out by experts, the beautiful original ultra-thin Omega movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker. It runs very well, keeping time almost on par with a new Omega in our test position. For the finishing touch, we have fitted it with a brand new aftermarket calfskin strap with an aftermarket Omega style buckle, making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
