The new 2X4s from the Brooklyn artistic collective were not created in collaboration with Timberland, but feature a silhouette that is almost entirely reminiscent of the brand's "Wheat" colored 6-Inch boots; and if elements such as the black leather collar or the two-tone laces are faithful to the original version, it is the upper of the shoe that has been completely distorted. The traditional nubuck structure has in fact been replaced by a rubber pattern, like the rest of the boot, which exactly reflects the pattern of the sole, giving the impression that the latter continues throughout the upper part of the shoe and goes to even cover the tongue. Complici il rigido clima invernale e l’ormai assodata conquista di scaffali e passerelle da parte di pantaloni e jeans dal taglio baggy, negli ultimi mesi abbiamo assistito all’improvviso e quasi incontenibile ritorno degli stivaletti Timberland, che in poco tempo si sono imposti come assoluti protagonisti per quanto riguarda i trend footwear.

Numerosi sono stati i brand che hanno voluto cavalcare l’onda e collaborare con l’azienda di Boston, dando così vita a rivisitazioni in grado di omaggiare l’iconico boot e di offrirne allo stesso tempo versioni alternative: ne sono un esempio le partnership firmate da Supreme, da Louis Vuitton o da Veneda Carter.

A tal proposito, anche MSCHF ha deciso di dire la sua, mantenendo il tono irriverente e provocatorio che contraddistingue da sempre i suoi prodotti, e che è già riuscito a suscitare scalpore nel mondo del footwear con prodotti come i Big Red Boots o i Big Yellow Boots.

I nuovi 2X4 del collettivo artistico di Brooklyn non sono stati realizzati in collaborazione con Timberland, ma presentano una silhouette che ricorda quasi in tutto e per tutto i boots 6-Inch color “Wheat” del brand; e se elementi come il colletto in pelle nera o i lacci bicolore sono fedeli alla versione originale, è l’upper della scarpa ad essere stato completamente stravolto.

La tradizionale struttura in nabuk è infatti stata sostituita da un pattern in gomma, come tutto il resto dello stivale, che riprende esattamente il motivo della suola, dando l’impressione che quest’ultima prosegua per tutta la parte superiore della calzatura e che vada a ricoprire addirittura la linguetta. Tra i dettagli, anche gli occhielli dei lacci riprendono le stelline presenti sulla suola.
